REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER FOR MARRIAGE CEREMONY TO TAKE PLACE
A Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be completed by the couple 1 month & 1 day prior to the set wedding date and not more than 18 mths prior to the date.
- Proof of Identity must be provided by both parties - Full Birth Certificates, Passports in case of an Overseas person wishing to marry
- In the case of a divorced person - evidence must be provided
- The couple will have to sign a Statutory Declaration prior to their wedding taking place - this is declaring that there is no reason why they should not be married and also confirming address, occupation etc.
- Of a marriagable age - 18 years or older
- Legally able to be married
- Death certificate if widowed
Overseas marriage (fiancee from overseas) requires an application to be submitted to DIMIA ( this is for your own follow up)
